Charles Kenneth "Cotton" Featherston
Business Manager 1979-1980 also 1983- 1987
Charles Kenneth "Cotton" Featherston, 91, of Globe, AZ left this world on 1/10/2017. Charles was born in 1925 one of ten children and raised on a farm in central Texas. Charles, also known as "Cotton" or Kenneth, met his lifelong love, Mary, in high school, and they were married in 1944 while he was home on leave during WWII. Charles and Mary left central Texas for Miami, Arizona in 1946 where they started a family and Charles went to work for the copper mines where he ended up operating heavy equipment. Charles moved the family to Flagstaff in 1960 and worked for the local Union of Operating Engineers. The family moved to Tucson in 1965 and Phoenix in 1973 as Charles took on greater responsibilities and was ultimately elected to the local union's top office for two terms. Charles and Mary lived in Montana and northern Arizona before returning to the Miami area. Mary passed last February after their 71st anniversary. Charles lovingly cared for Mary as her health declined and continued to live independently at home the rest of his days. Among many things we will miss about Charles are his Texas accent, stories of life on the farm, strong political views, good-natured teasing, big heart, easy smile, belly laugh, and love for life. Charles is survived by 2 sisters, 5 children, 18 Grandchildren, 19 Great-Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
